After completing his studies in art and design in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Robert emigrated to Montreal, where he worked as an illustrator for the Department of Neurology Research at the University of Montreal.
He was fascinated by the way glass can be heated and composed. From there, he decided to leave his career in Montreal to become a glass artist in the Eastern Townships.
He studied glass fusion at Sheridan Collage in Toronto, glass blowing at Espace Verre in Montreal and glass painting in New York with the late Albinis Elskus, a figurative glass painter.
Robert later opened a studio where he restored figurative stained glass throughout the Eastern Townships and Quebec. He designed and manufactured custom stained glass for commercial and residential environments.
Heated and fused glass attracted his attention, so with the help of various government grants, he co-founded Surface Design, a specializing company in the design and manufacture of contemporary furniture and accessories using glass on granite and metal. They sold across Canada and the United States.
Today, Robert thrives on utilizing all his acquired skills to create sculptures reflecting his environment and thoughts. His Sculptures are composed of Metal, Glass and Stone.
